Student assistant: Precision technology and automation

At the Fraunhofer IPT in Aachen, we work with more than 530 employees every day to make the production of the future more digital, more flexible and more sustainable. In the group »Ultra-precision technology«, we deal with challenging issues in the manufacturing industry to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of production processes and products. Innovative solutions are required to meet the increasing demands of manufacturing technology. Therefore, new technologies and methods for measuring and calibrating production machines are becoming increasingly important.

As a student assistant, you will assist our team with various research and industrial projects, providing you with insight into a diverse range of development and production processes.

What you will do

  • Support in the metrological detection of geometric and thermal machine deviations
  • Implementation of data acquisition, processing and evaluation
  • Collaboration in the modeling of multi-axis machine tools and the development of calibration methods
  • Conducting research to identify current trends and developments

What you bring to the table

  • You are studying mechanical engineering, computer science, CES or a comparable subject
  • Solid background in MATLAB, Python and/or C# programming
  • A high degree of motivation, initiative and independence
  • Good language skills in German and/or English
