The Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP in Dresden is dedicated to the development of innovative solutions, technologies, and processes for surface refinement and organic electronics. We offer a wide range of research, development, and pilot production options, particularly for the treatment, structuring, and refinement of surfaces as well as for sensors and optical filters.
The working group "Stationary Precision Coating" within Plasma Technology focuses on developing plasma-based vacuum coating processes and technologies for producing functional layers using reactive magnetron sputtering. Our current focus lies on piezoelectric and semiconducting oxide and nitride layers.

To support our team, we are offering a position as a Student Assistant at our location in Dresden-Gruna starting as soon as possible.

Your tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation and modification of vacuum coating equipment,
- Preparation and support of coating experiments,
- Characterization of thin film structures and electrical and optical properties,
- Evaluation and graphical presentation of process data and material properties.
What you contribute
The position is targeted at students in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical-scientific fields.
Desirable, but not mandatory, are prior knowledge in areas such as vacuum technology, surface design, or in examining mechanical, optical, and electrical properties of thin films. Additionally, you should have:
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and conducting internet research,
- A precise and very conscientious way of working,
- Good German and English language skills, both written and spoken.

The position is temporary. However, we are interested in long-term collaboration. The monthly working hours amount to 20–30 hours, which can be flexibly arranged. Presence on 1-2 days per week is desired.
