student assistant in Software development

for an immediate start

Research data management is an important component in the modern scientific enterprise. It enables researchers to exchange, publish and archive their data efficiently. Large quantities of environmental data are continuously collected in the IGB's operations.  For this purpose, the Institute operates a subject-specific research data repository with international reach (fred.igb-berlin.de). For the maintenance and further development of this project, we are looking for a student assistant in the field of software development.

Your tasks

  • Further development of the user interface with a focus on user-friendliness, accessibility and mobile application
  • Development of solutions resulting from feature requests
  • Implementation of bug fixes

Your profile

  • You are studying computer science or in a technical field at a German university or university of applied sciences
  • You have good programming skills in PHP and JavaScript
  • Experience in SQL, with the frameworks CodeIgniter and Bootstrap, and with GIT are desirable
  • You have basic knowledge of German or English

Our offer

We offer you insights into data management and data preparation, as well as into environment-related research projects. You will be integrated into an international scientific working environment. You can work on a mobile basis and also organize your time freely.

The position can be filled with a weekly working time of 10 hours per week. It is initially limited for one year.
