Student assistant (f/m/d) in the field of programming (signal processing) medical technology

The Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology is Europe's leading center for contract research and development in laser technology. The Department of Laser Medical Technology and Biophotonics develops new measurement methods for use in industry and medical technology. We are looking for a student assistant (f/m/d) with software skills to use our embedded systems for a wide range of measurement tasks. 

What you will do

  • Programming a metrological application in medical technology using methods and databases from image processing
  • Acquisition of spectra and fast processing on the FPGA of a frame grabber card
  • Configuration and control of the algorithms implemented in the FPGA using PC software
  • High throughput transfer of the processed data to the PC RAM

What you bring to the table

  • You are studying computer science, electrical engineering or a related technical or scientific course of study and are at least in your 3rd semester
  • You have very good knowledge of C/C++ as well as practical experience in programming applications for Windows and Git version management
  • Ideally you should have basic knowledge of Simulink and/or AMD Vivado, but this is not a prerequisite
  • An independent way of working 
  • Good knowledge in German and English

Remuneration is based on the general works agreement on the employment of auxiliary staff.
The weekly working time is 10-15 hours.
The position is initially limited to 6 months, after which we would be happy to offer it on a longer-term basis.
