Student Assistant (f/m/d) in the field of Additive Manufacturing (LMD)

The Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT is Europe's leading center for contract research and development in the field of laser technology. The Laser Material Deposition (LMD) department works closely with partners from industry and research on the development of system technology and processes for 3D printing as well as their automation and digitalisation.
We are looking for a student assistant to work on our projects and look forward to your support.

What you will do

  • Preparation and execution of experiments on LMD systems for industry-related applications such as aerospace components, toolmaking, energy technology, etc.
  • Analysing additively manufactured components using state-of-the-art measurement technology
  • Collaboration in the preparation and evaluation of measurement data
  • Support in project work with our industrial partners

What you bring to the table

  • You are studying a technical or scientific degree programme (e.g. mechanical engineering, materials science, materials engineering, industrial engineering, physics)
  • You have a high level of technical interest and can quickly familiarise yourself with new issues
  • Responsible, independent and structured way of working
  • Very good written and spoken German
  • Basic knowledge of NC programming is an advantage, but not essential

The weekly working hours are 10 h -15 h per week as agreed.
The position is initially limited to 6 months, after which it can be extended.
Remuneration is based on the general works agreement on the employment of auxiliary staff.
