The mission of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) as a nationally and internationally active research institute is to deliver solutions for an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable agriculture – together with society. ZALF is a member of the Leibniz Association and is located in Müncheberg (approx. 35 minutes by regional train from Berlin-Lichtenberg). The institute also maintains locations in Dedelow and Paulinenaue.

The DFG project ‘IR_Soms’ focuses in spectral properties of Organic matter and aims to improve the mechanistic understanding of the interaction between organic matter and cations and their effects on the spectral properties of organic matter using Vis/NIR, MIR, and micro-MIR and to develop an improved procedure for interpreting Infrared (IR) spectra. To support the IR_SOMs project, we are offering a temporary position as a student assistant (up to 40h/month) starting 01.04.2024 until 01.10.2024 at our location in Müncheberg.

Student Assistant (f/m/d)

Your tasks:

  • assist in lab works (e.g. in sorption experiments, preparing samples for DOC analysis)
  • support in our scientific work e.g. data cleaning, sorting etc.

Your qualifications:

  • bachelor degree in agriculture, soil science, environmental chemistry or related subjects
  • interest in scientific works
  • flexibility and willingness to learn new topics
  • experience with handling lab equipment is desirable
  • ideally experience with Microsoft excel
  • very good communication skills in English
