Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

The Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) is an internationally renowned research centre working to elucidate fundamental principles of evolution, development and adaptability of important crop plants. Research into the genetic and molecular basis of their performance traits is crucial for adapting crop plants to the needs of a growing world population and changing environmental conditions.

One pillar here is bioinformatics. Based on state-of-the-art biotechnological methods, datasets are generated in high throughput and fed into the databases of the IPK. The aim of the Bioinformatics and Information Technology Research Group (RG BIT ) is the targeted utilization of these data for the transition to a biodigital resource center in order to develop innovative concepts for downstream analyses. A state-of-the-art infrastructure, such as an extensive data management system and a high-performance compute cluster is available. The RG BIT takes advantage of its strong involvement in important national and international infrastructure programs such as the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) to implement sustainable structures.

FAIRagro is a consortium in the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI ) in Germany. Aims and tasks of FAIRagro comprise the development of a networked research data management for agrosystems research and the establishment of an interoperable, scalable, quality-assured and user-friendly research data infrastructure under consideration of the FAIR principles. FAIRagro will make research data findable (F), accessible (A), interoperable (I), and reusable (R) by other researchers.

The IPK is a partner in the NFDI consortium FAIRagro. The position advertised here will make a central contribution to this consortium.

Your tasks

  • participation in the inventory of technical interfaces of the participating research data infrastructures
  • transfer and refinement of the federated middleware architecture and infrastructure concepts developed in the consortium into concrete technical specifications
  • exchange and support of the partner institutions in the technical implementation and establishment of compatibility with the FAIRagro middleware
  • implementation of the defined interfaces for the interoperability of research data infrastructures within the FAIRagro consortium and for the connection to a common NFDI federation landscape
  • participation in system integration, especially establishment of monitoring, testing and benchmarking services
  • close cooperation with staff (f/m/d) of the Leibniz Center for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) e. V. for the conceptual design and implementation of the FAIRagro middleware and with the Senckenberg Museum für Naturkunde in Görlitz for the integration of the NFDI AAI into the FAIRagro middleware
