The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF is one of the world's leading research institutions in the fields of III-V semiconductors and synthetic diamond. Together with our partners from industry and science, we research and develop electronic, optoelectronic and quantum technological components and systems. The focus is on research and development for applications in the fields of security, health, energy, information and communication.
The heterogeneous or monolithic integration of various passive and active optical components is becoming increasingly interesting for areas beyond the more established VIS and NIR wavelengths. For the longer wavelength infrared range and for non-classical light sources, concepts from III-V technology, which we have been developing at Fraunhofer IAF for a long time, can be used.
