The Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy is a pioneer and a driver of bioeconomy research. We create the scientific foundation to transform agricultural, food, industrial and energy systems into a comprehensive bio-based circular economy. We develop and integrate techniques, processes and management strategies, effectively converging technologies to intelligently crosslink highly diverse bioeconomic production systems and to control them in a knowledge-based, adaptive and largely automated manner. We conduct research in dialogue with society - knowledge-motivated and application-inspired.

For the department Technology assessment and substance cycles we are looking to recruit a

The project focuses on reducing the carbon footprint by creating a common framework for carbon offsetting mechanisms and low emission practices on farms and facilitating carbon farming projects in Europe. To achieve the project's objectives, actions such as the implementation of harmonised tools, standards and methodologies for on-farm sustainability assessment are envisaged. In addition, the monitoring, reporting, and verification process is addressed, including the training of farmers and advisors. Furthermore, the implementation of mitigation practices on all mixed crop livestock farms will be considered, as well as the development of cost benchmarks and the creation of a performance-based carbon finance mechanism, the promotion of low emission levers, contribution to the dissemination of carbon offset mechanisms, and contribution to the promotion of a European network and a common framework.
