Salary level 13 TV-L (100%)

may be filled earliest possible for a period of 36 months.

The employment is regulated by the Act of Academic Fixed-Term Contract, §2 (1) (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). Therefore, candidates may only be considered for appointment if they still have the respective qualification periods available in accordance with § 2 (1) WissZeitVG.

Job description

The working group is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in the research project "Arsenic and Molybdenum in Marine Carbonates: Redistribution, Binding Forms and Isotope Systematics".

The tasks of the job holder are based on the participation in the above-mentioned research project. This includes the following activities:

  • Planning and independent execution of samples from rock samples (drill cores in the Drill Core Camp of the Florida Geological Survey in Tallahassee)
  • Petrographic description of rock samples
  • Planning and execution of chemical, isotopic and mineralogical analyses: Sequential chemical extractions, ICP-MS, MC-ICP-MS, XAFS, XANES
  • Planning and execution of laboratory tests
  • Participation in the supervision of students and courses.
  • Preconditions
  • Completed doctorate in the field of geosciences or mineralogy with a focus on geochemistry and carbonate petrology
  • Experience in sampling and description of drill cores
  • Experience in geochemical analysis of rocks and waters
  • Experience in rock microscopy of carbonates
  • Willingness to take samples in Florida and possibly worldwide
  • Willingness for stays abroad to carry out analyses
