The Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS) is a research institute of the Leibniz Association and an internationally renowned institute in the field of aerosol and cloud research.

TROPOS researches aerosols and aerosol-cloud interactions within the framework of numerous projects with mostly internal interdepartmental and external cooperation in Germany, Europe and worldwide. To support the institute management in the further development and implementation of cooperations and strategies, we are looking for a person from the scientific environment of aerosol and cloud research who has a high interest in coordinating activities. These should be both internal and external and range from participation in Leibniz Association committees to supporting the management in the strategic development of the institute's mission. Overall, the work should cover the following spectrum:

  • Support in the initiation and implementation of collaborations within the Leibniz Association and beyond
  • Contact point to and, if necessary, participation in the relevant alliances, networks, committees and working groups of the Leibniz Association
  • Supporting the Director in the Institute's reporting system
  • Collaboration in advising politics and society
  • Recording and communication of funding lines (in particular junior researchers, equality, internationalization) of the various national and international funding bodies as well as technical support in the application process

Necessary and desirable qualifications:

  • Degree in meteorology, physics, chemistry (doctorate if possible) and practical experience in the field of atmospheric research as well as professional experience in research coordination or science management
  • In-depth knowledge of the structure and research work of TROPOS
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English as well as intercultural competence combined with a high degree of initiative and administrative awareness

  • Organizational skills and ability to work in a team
  • high resilience and motivation

The ideal starting date would be 01.06. 2024. The position is initially limited to two years and includes a full-time position with 40 hours/week and can also be performed part-time if necessary. The salary will be TV-L pay group 13, including the attractive social benefits of the public sector.
