The Competence Center "Energy Policy and Energy Markets" contributes toward developing the political and institutional framework for a sustainable energy system. The intensive use of renewable energy sources and the strengthening of energy efficiency are key strategies aimed at meeting energy needs in an environmentally friendly and resource-conserving manner, for security of supply and in order to protect the climate.

What you will do

  • Your work is primarily in modeling and analysis of a carbon-neutral energy and economic system for successful high-impact energy transition design.
  • To this end, you will analyze technologies and political measures with which the energy transition can be successfully implemented in technical and economic terms through the expansion of renewable energies or further climate-friendly applications, such as the use of green hydrogen.
  • In all analyses, you keep the overall system in mind at all times, work in an interdisciplinary manner, and use quantitative and qualitative methods. 
  • As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will work on and lead research and policy consulting projects at the national, European and international level and further develop your professional network.

What you bring to the table

  • You have a PhD in industrial engineering, economics or natural sciences or any related discipline. 
  • In addition, you are enthusiastic about energy and climate protection issues and have in-depth knowledge of energy economics, policy and technical issues of modeling and transformation of energy systems.
  • With your ability to work in a team and strong intercultural communication skills, you can work well on interdisciplinary projects. 
  • You are able to present your work results convincingly in both spoken and written English; further language skills as well as experience in the acquisition and management of projects are an advantage.
