Offer Description

We now seek a highly qualified and motivated Research Physician (f/m/d) to drive the translation of novel optoacoustic imaging systems into the clinics.

The Chair of Biological Imaging (CBI) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging (IBMI) at Helmholtz Munich are an integrated, multi-disciplinary research unit, which provide bioengineering solutions to urgent societal needs. CBI scientists develop next-generation imaging and sensing methods to measure previously inaccessible properties of living systems, hence, catalyzing breakthroughs in biology, medicine, and the environment. Comprising 11 inter-disciplinary laboratories and scientists from more than 25 countries, CBI offers state-of-the-art infrastructure for innovative research and an ideal environment to accelerate your career.

The Mission:

Optoacoustic imaging and sensing can collect structural and functional information about health and disease offering novel ways to monitor health conditions and life-style or medical interventions. Building upon our extensive expertise in developing methods and systems, we are now focusing on the clinical translation of optoacoustic technology in cardio-metabolic medicine. The successful candidate will drive clinical studies that aim to develop novel prevention and prognosis methodology in close collaboration with our clinical partners. The work is expected to pioneer methodology that monitors the development of different cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, including diabetes, in ways that move away from symptoms-based medicine, into the realm of continuous healthcare. This is a field with potential to accelerate your scientific career, greatly impact society, improve the efficiency and cost of healthcare and offer outstanding opportunity for commercial exploitation.

Your profile:

The successful applicant should be a Physician (medical student or doctor) with great motivation to promote advanced technology and the future of medicine and excellent knowledge for the German language as required for patient recruitment.

Preferred (but not necessary) qualifications include:

• License to practice medicine in Germany (Approbation).
• Medical Device Regulation (MDR) certification or interest to become MDR certified.
• Excellent track record of research achievements and publications in top-ranked journals.
• Strong motivation, scientific curiosity, and commitment to scientific excellence.
• Team player skills and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment.
• Command of the English language.

Our offer:

We offer you the unique chance to play a role and make a difference in future healthcare. At CBI, we strongly believe in scientific excellence and innovation. This is your opportunity to be part of and to advance your career in a world-leading research institute, where bioengineering principles meet today’s challenges in biology, medicine, and environmental health to develop the solutions of tomorrow. CBI provides a highly international, multi-disciplinary environment with excellent opportunities for professional growth. You will be part of a dynamic, professional, and highly motivated team within a stimulating environment and gain international exposure through our partners and collaborators across Europe and the world. We support career development, continued education, life-long learning and excellent opportunities for professional growth.
