The Leibniz Center for Photonics in Infection Research (LPI, www.lpi-jena.de ) is a project of the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructures of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). As one of the supporting institutions of the LPI, the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology - Hans Knöll Institute - (Leibniz-HKI, www.leibniz-hki.de ) is looking to recruit a

Research Coordinator (f/m/d)

for Project Management and Drug Development

for 2 years initially with the possibility of extension.

The LPI is being established by a consortium of four research institutions (Leibniz-HKI , Leibniz-IPHT , FSU Jena , University Hospital Jena ). In the future, scientists at the LPI will combine photonic technologies with infection research and thus contribute to the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods for human medicine. Research results will be transferred to clinical practice along the entire value chain. The LPI research program is subdivided into Basic Technology projects, in which the four supporting institutions jointly address various scientific and technological questions in an interdisciplinary approach.

The available position coordinates Basic Technology 5 - Innovative Molecular and Biochemical Assays for Rapid Diagnostics, Drug Development and New Therapeutic Concepts. This involves close coordination with the Leibniz-HKI Executive Board, the LPI office and the other Basic Technology projects.

Your tasks:

  • Coordination of the joint project Basic Technology 5 in the context of the LPI
  • Responsible execution and control of project controlling and reporting for Basic Technology 5
  • Active participation in the further development of Basic Technology 5 with regard to its continuation after the end of the first funding period
  • Development and implementation of a concept for research data management in Basic Technology 5 in cooperation with the LPI office and the participating research institutions
  • Management of drug development for new anti-infectives, in particular design and coordination of studies, organization and documentation of meetings, contract management, awarding of contracts, and acquisition of funds

We expect:

  • A high level of motivation to decisively and proactively advance the research and control of infectious diseases within the thematic framework of LPI's Basic Technology 5
  • A university degree in the natural or life sciences with a doctorate
  • Extensive experience in the management of projects in collaborative research
  • Experience in setting up a modern research data management and/or in the development management of new drugs
  • Active involvement in third-party funding acquisition and experience in budget management
  • Responsible management of reporting, contributing own text and collecting the required data
  • Adherence to deadlines in teamwork at the interface between science, administration and funding agencies
  • An integrative personality with a willingness to shape and make decisions as well as excellent networking skills
  • Experience in conception, organization and realization of scientific events
  • Very good communication skills in German and English, intercultural competence and experience abroad
