Research Associate / Postdoc - Robotic Intervention

Updated: about 2 months ago

Fraunhofer IMTE is an innovative and unique research institution developing intelligent systems and processes for health in the fields of medical technology, cell technology and aquaculture. The focus is on the safe translation of these solutions into beneficial applications for a healthy society. With a cycle of prevention, diagnostics, therapy and rehabilitation, we are redefining the term Circular Health and creating ideal conditions for the individualization of health technologies.

At the interface with clinical and technical partners, you will have the opportunity to put new technologies and research results into practice and to derive new research topics from clinical/technical questions and problems. This makes you a link in the chain of individualized medical technology, which covers the entire workflow from measurement technology and diagnostics to patient-specific therapy.

What you will do

You will work in an interdisciplinary environment on current issues in medical technology research in the field of (partially) automated medical technology, in particular medical robotics.

  • Development and research of methodical approaches for safe automation in a medical technology and physiological context and implementation on the target systems
  • Development of control and automation strategies for various systems and their adaptation to specific medical issues, taking into account the relevant requirements and regulations
  • Developing new approaches for the safe automation of robot-assisted therapy systems and transferring knowledge to various systems and issues
  • Close collaboration with external partners to assess the feasibility of different projects and define research needs as well as to drive forward their practical implementation

What you bring to the table

  • Completed scientific university degree, ideally with a doctorate in the field of technical cybernetics, mechatronics, medical technology or similar
  • Very good knowledge of actuators/sensors/mechatronics as well as control engineering and system theory
  • Enthusiasm for the design and development of complex systems
  • Good handling of the common programming languages and simulation environments Matlab, Simulink, Python, C/ C++, C#
  • Knowledge of (medical) robotics, hardware and software development is desirable
  • Strong initiative and commitment

What you can expect

  • An open and innovative working atmosphere in an interdisciplinary team with flat hierarchies
  • Teamwork and creativity are the most important aspects of our collaboration
  • Great creative freedom and the opportunity to shape our young institution creatively and sustainably
  • Flexible and therefore family-friendly working conditions
  • Individual development through further qualification
  • Company pension scheme (VBL)
  • Work-life balance through flexible working hours, the option of mobile working, as well as other supportive offers to reconcile private and professional life, such as daycare places
  • job ticket
