Technische Hochschule Lübeck is seeking, at the earliest opportunity, to appoint, in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, a

Research Associate (m/f/o)

-Reference No. 8.329-

on a temporary contract until 31.12.2024.

Should the pay scale terms and conditions be met, the post will be categorised up to remuneration group 13 as per the remuneration structure under the collective public sector wage agreement for the federal states (TV-L). The hours of work will amount to 50% of the set hours of work for full-time employment (currently 19.35 hours / week).

The appointment falls within Collaborative Research Centre 1461 “Neurotronics: Bio-inspired Information Pathways” of the DFG. The post is integrated within the Science Outreach Project (SOP). The objective of the SOP, which is entitled: “Design and evaluation of immersive media environments addressing barriers and opportunities of a biologically inspired artificial intelligence”, is to reconstruct the research questions, scientific methods and technological developments for the design of effective outreach formats and environments. The project is aimed at different groups of non-experts, primarily the general public and school students as future citizens and scientists, but also at (junior) researchers within the CRC. With the focus on the design of immersive media, the SOP links research from emotion research and scientific education on the one hand, and the CRC research on the other. The prototypical development of outreach tools in this SOP is accompanied by empirical studies into the previous (mis)conceptions of the public (about artificial intelligence, natural and artificial neural networks etc.) and the emotional reactions of the users in an immersive media environment; these studies will assist in measuring the effectiveness of the media prototypes developed.
