The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development e.V. (IOER) in Dresden advertises the following position from 1 September 2021 (employment in accordance with WissZeitVG) until 31 January 2023:

Research Associate (m/f/d)

on the topic "Thermal building simulation and data analysis on heat resilience in buildings"

TV-L E 13, part-time with 26 hours per week (65%).

The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER) in Dresden is a nonuniversity research center, and a member of the Leibniz Association. We investigate the transformative capacity of society and systems as well as characteristics, dynamics and governance of spatial sustainability transformations and their acceleration in the context of the global social-ecological crisis.

Project Background:

Scientific collaboration in the BMBF joint project "Heat adaptation of urban building and settlement structure types – actor-oriented implementation support to strengthen climate resilience and health care (HeatResilientCity II)". In the project, practitioners are empowered on the basis of research results to implement adaptation measures for summer heat and to make them a permanent process. The focus of the advertised position is on the structural adaptation of heat-sensitive buildings.

Tasks:

  • Carrying out thermal building simulations with the IDA-ICE software and analysing the results
  • Development and evaluation of building adaptation measures for summer heat stress
  • Participation in research projects of the research field in the above-mentioned subject area

Expected skills and competencies:

  • University degree (diploma/Master's degree) with above-average success in an engineering or natural science subject related to the field of work, e.g. civil engineering, architecture, construction technology, construction and real estate management, maintenance planning, building technology, building energy technology, technical or applied physics or comparable
  • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team and cooperate with partners from the practice

We expect the applicant to be very creative, work independently and have a communicative manner as well as a confident handling of office applications and willingness to travel on business. Experience in dealing with authorities is also advantageous.
