We are currently looking for a research assistant for the "Micro and Nano Structuring" group in the "Laser Drilling and Precision Cutting" team to work on process development and the development of new process and system technology solutions. Topics of the team include the production of precision holes and the investigation of scaling concepts to increase the productivity of ablation and drilling processes. A key focus of the advertised position is the further development of multi-beam processes and the associated optical setups, in which many (>>100) partial beams are generated and used for parallel machining. Current projects on this topic are in the fields of medical technology, water treatment, battery technology, aerospace technology and sensor technology.
The group is closely connected to an industrial, university and non-university innovation environment that aims to develop competitive solutions for this emerging technology in industry and society.

What you will do

  • Independent management and processing of public funded and industrial projects on the subject of laser drilling with a focus on increasing the productivity of drilling processes
  • Further development of machine technology for laser material processing for scalable processes, in particular optical setups for multi-beam processing
  • Planning, setting up and conducting experiments together with your student assistants
  • Presenting the results to customers and at national and international conference
  • Collaboration in the external presentation and acquisition of new projects
  • Supervision of scientific theses

What you bring to the table

  • A completed university degree (TH, TU, U) in physics, mechanical engineering or a comparable degree programme
  • Experience in the field of laser material processing is advantageous, but not essential
  • A committed and independent way of working, as well as initiative and the ability to familiarise yourself quickly and flexibly with new topics
  • Communication and teamwork skills as well as a convincing appearance at our customers

Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD).

The weekly working time is 39 hours.

This position is also available on a part-time basis.

The position is initially limited to 2 years.
