The Chair of Architectural Informatics at the Technical University of Munich is looking for a research associate (m/w/d)(Remuneration TVL E13, Fulltime, 4 Years) from the 1st of September. The interdisciplinary team at the Chair of Architectural Informatics deals with digitalization topics in the fields of architecture in teaching and research. The focus lies on Building Information Modelling, decision-support methods in urban planning, and knowledge-based design methods. As part of the interdisciplinary research project “AI4TWINNING - Artificial Intelligence for the automated creation of multi-scale digital twins for the built world”, funded by the Georg-Nemetschek-Institute, methods of artificial intelligence for the built environment will be developed in collaboration with teams led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Zhu (Data Science in Earth Observation, Department of Aerospace and Geodesy), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Borrmann (Chair of Computational Modeling and Simulation, Department of Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering), Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Cremers (Chair of Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence, Departments of Informatics and Mathematics), Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Kolbe (Chair of Geoinformatics, Department of Aerospace and Geodesy) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stilla (Chair of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Department of Aerospace and Geodesy).

Your Responsibilities:
  • Collaboration in the research project “AI4TWINNING” / sub-project “AI-based, knowledge-driven reconstruction of semantic building data using multiple image data sources”
  • Providing scientific Publications and Presentations in English.

The above-mentioned subject areas define the content of the job profile. The applicant’s own thematic priorities are welcome and can be included in the formulation of the research project.

Your Qualifications:
  • A university degree (master’s or diploma) in either computer science, architecture, civil engineering or geodesy with a specialisation in AI. Or in a comparable, thematically appropriate discipline.
  • Confident in written and spoken English
  • Experience in publishing scientific texts
  • Enthusiasm for the challenges of digitalization in the built environment and artificial intelligence
  • In-depth knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence and programming
  • Familiarity with AI-based image analysis techniques and tools is preferred but not mandatory
  • Capable of and interested in analytical, creative and interdisciplinary thinking
  • High level of commitment, independence, and initiative
  • Systematic way of working and high reliability
  • Ability to work in a team and to communicate
