Offer Description

The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER) offers the following position:

Research Associate (f/m/d)

WIR recycle fibres (WIRreFa)

TV-L, E 13, 75 % part-time (30 hours per week) to be filled as soon as possible, limited until 31 March 2026, possible extension to two years, fixed term according to WissZeitVG

The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development is a non-university research institute in the field of the spatial sciences and a member of the Leibniz-Association. Our subject is the sustainable development and transformation of cities and regions in the context of the global human-ecological crisis. The built environment is of particular importance as a major source of resource consumption and climate emissions.

Job-specific background

As part of the BMBF joint research project "Wir recyeln Fasern - Regionales Bündnis für Kreislauf- und Ressourcenwirtschaft von Faserverbundwerkstoffen" (WIRreFa), you will analyse process chains for the processing of waste fractions containing fibres and their reuse in RC fibre products and evaluate them with regard to resource conservation and grey emissions. The analyses cover the entire spectrum of material extraction, collection, processing and incorporation into new (construction) products. As part of an interdisciplinary team consisting of several scientific and practical partners, you will identify relevant process chains, design the analyses, carry out material flow analyses and calculate emissions using life cycle assessment data. The treatment process is just as important as the underlying logistics concept. Supported by a team of experienced scientists and practitioners, you will publish results in transfer-orientated media and scientific journals.

Your skills and competences

  • Completed scientific university degree (Master's/Diploma) in civil engineering, waste management, environmental sciences, natural sciences or related disciplines with a connection to the topics addressed
  • analytical and process-orientated thinking as well as a structured and solution-oriented way of working
  • Desirable: knowledge of quantitative environmental assessment methods such as MFA and life cycle assessment
  • Enjoy preparing complicated technical contexts and communicating them as a knowledge base for the development of business models
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary, cooperative collaboration and strong teamwork skills
  • very good knowledge of German (C1); knowledge of English desirable

We actively support researchers through qualification and further training opportunities.

We offer you

  • Collaboration in a leading research institute of the Leibniz Association,
  • flat hierarchies and opportunities for participation,
  • creative and motivating working environment,
  • lively social culture and diversity,
  • openness and trusting cooperation,
  • family justice and flexible working time models,
  • equal opportunities (multiple Total-E-Quality certification),
  • career planning and further education opportunities,
  • sustainability management,
  • job ticket,
  • additional protection through a company pension scheme (VBL).

The place of work is Dresden.
