Research Associate (6 years in total) in Subsurface Hydrology

Updated: about 2 years ago
Location: Germany,
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

The Hydrogeology workgroup in the Department of Geosciences at the University of Tübingen offers the position of a research associate which can be filled immediately. Initial employment is for 3 years. Extension to 6 years in total is subject to a positive assessment. The salary is according to the civil-service pay A13 or public-employee pay E13 of the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The position is meant to qualify its holder for a faculty position – with corresponding freedom for and expectations towards the person filling it in, but this is not a tenure-track post.

The Geo- and Environmental Research Center (GUZ) hosts 20 professorships in geoscience and environmental science in a modern building. The Hydrogeology workgroup is internationally recognized for research in reactive-transport modeling, hydrogeological and hydrogeophyscial field-investigation techniques, and stochastic analysis of heterogeneous aquifers.

We seek for a researcher with profound knowledge in numerical simulation of groundwater systems. The anticipated focus should lie on reactive-transport simulations across scales. Applicants need to have an excellent PhD degree in hydro(geo)logy, environmental engineering, applied mathematics or related fields with applications to the simulation of subsurface flow and transport processes. Publications in international peer-reviewed journals are mandatory. The successful applicant is expected to lead a productive research team, successfully acquire third-party-funding, publish papers in highly ranked journals, and participate in teaching (4 hours per week). Applicants with disabilities who possess equivalent qualifications will be given preferential treatment. The University of Tübingen is committed to strengthening the proportion of women in research and teaching, and strongly encourages applications of qualified female scientists.
