to be filled. Starting date is as soon as possible. The position is limited for a period of 3 years.

3 positions for researchers in Agricultural-, Environmental Economicsand/or Consumer Research are filled in the collaborative project “ZERN – Zukunft Ernährung Niedersachsen“(future of nutrition in Lower Saxony) with a focus on farm(er) and consumer acceptance of new technologies, and production and farm animal welfare economics in following subprojects:

a. Development of an extraction and functionalization process for the use of protein from green biomass in human nutrition
This part of the project aims to tackle the challenges of obtaining protein from grassland plants. It aims to create the necessary basis for the sustainable use of grass protein in human nutrition and for use in the food industry for structuring purposes. Particular attention is paid to protein yield and quality, economic efficiency, farmer and consumer acceptance and a positive ecological balance. b. Sustainable fattening pig husbandry
The aim of this part of project is the scientific examination of future-oriented and socially accepted husbandry systems for pig fattening. Issues from the fields of animal welfare and animal health, animal ethics, animal nutrition, meat and product quality, and economics are addressed. Particular attention is paid to conflicts of interest arising in these husbandry systems, especially with regard to animal health, biosecurity, emissions, nutrient efficiency and economic efficiency. The positions will be in the groups:
1. Agriculture and Food Business Management, headed by Prof. Dr Silke Hüttel. The group conducts research on digital and sustainable food systems, and adaptation to climate change. They work with observational (panel) data at the farm and field level, spatial land use data, survey and experimental data. In ZERN, the focus will be on farmer acceptance of new technologies (both projects), and production and farm animal welfare economics (project b). 2. Marketing for Food and Agricultural Products headed byProf. Dr Achim Spiller. This group focuses on current issues in the agri-food sector. These range from consumer behavior regarding healthy and sustainable foods, consumer acceptance e.g., for alternative proteins, over sustainability management to animal welfare and agribusiness supply chain management. The focus in ZERN will be the analysis of consumer attitudes towards products made from alternative proteins (project a). For more information, visit the group’s website: LINK
 
Your responsibilities:

  • Planning and conducting studies related to one of the projects a or b
  • Conducting surveys and analysis with a focus on acceptance and dissemination in practice
  • Preparation and analysis of collecting qualitative and quantitative data
  • Empirical data analysis of survey, experimental and observational data using statistical and/ or econometric methods
  • Presentation and publication of research results, including replication packages and science communication to the public
  • Active interaction with other researchers across disciplinary boundaries
  • Guidance/ supervision of Bachelor`s/ Master`s students
  • Participation in general project work, independent organization of project activities and cooperation with other sub-projects in the research network
Your profile:
  • Good to very good Master's degree in agricultural economics, environmental economics or related disciplines
  • Enjoy scientific work with the aim of a doctorate or as a postdoctoral researcher
  • Willingness to familiarize yourself with methodological skills in the field of empirical methods
  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with other researchers
  • Willingness to work on-site
  • Very good knowledge of English, knowledge of German is an advantage
