Research Assistant "Stranded assets, financial constraints, and the distributional impacts of climate policy"

Updated: about 2 months ago

We are looking for a

Research Assistant

for the project “Stranded assets, financial constraints, and the distributional impacts of climate policy” (FAIRCLIP) which is funded by the Leibniz Association and directed by Prof. Loriana Pelizzon. The project aims to provide a complete and accurate assessment of the impact of climate policies by considering financial second-round effects as sources of increasing inequality. It will provide a comprehensive and systematic comparison of the distributional effects of alternative policy instruments, including insights on whether command-and-control measures and green spending have more favorable distributional effects than price instruments. It advances the literature on the distributional impacts by using quasi-experimental tools and novel car loan level data of high granularity from all EU member countries to provide causal effect estimates. The Research Assistant will assist in building methods for the analysis to answer the question how climate policy affects the financing of vehicles and the resulting distributional impacts and how to ensure that consumers adopt more energy efficient vehicles to reduce the adverse distributive impacts of higher energy costs for vulnerable households over time.
