In the working group of Professor Dr. Beate Koksch at the Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Free University of Berlin has an open position available for temporary postdoc starting May 1st, 2024. The focus of our research group is peptide and protein engineering. Our group cooperates with several research groups from the Institutes of chemistry and biochemistry, pharmacy, physics and mathematics at the FU Berlin and from other institutions in the Berlin-Potsdam area. We participate in various DFG-funded special research areas, for example in the SFB 1349: “Fluorine-specific interactions”, SFB 1114: “Scaling cascades in complex systems”, SFB: 1449 “Dynamic hydrogels”, as well as in the graduate colleges funded by the DFG RTG 2473: “Bioactive Peptides” and IRTG 2662 “Charging into the future”.

:
The research project comprises the characterization and elucidation of adaptation mechanisms of laboratory-evolved bacteria using multi-omics studies. These include 1) functional genomics with a focus on analyzing dynamic aspects of the genome, i.e, in particular the transcriptome (e.g., gene expression patterns), 2) proteomics with regard to the investigation and identification of protein interactions and interactomes, and 3) metabolomics techniques such as lipidomics or fluxomics to obtain an integrated picture of the regulatory processes within the adapted cells. In addition to improving molecular biology techniques such as cloning, various randomization strategies, protein expression, protein purification and folding, further knowledge of bioinformatics such as data clustering or principal component analysis must also be acquired.

:
Completed scientific university studies and doctoral degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry

(Professional) Experience
Extensive practical experience in molecular biological working methods

:
Very good academic and doctoral achievements, very good organizational skills, very good communication skills, experience in publishing and presenting scientific data, very good knowledge of English.
