Research Assistant (m/f/d) in the field of powder processing and ceramics/​hardmetals

Salary group 13 TVöD
For the duration of 30 months

The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und ‑prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities include:

The job description includes research activities in the frame of a research project for the development of Niobium Carbide (NbC) based materials and parts:

  • Materials development on hardmetals based on Niobium Carbide (NbC)
  • Ceramic processing
  • Mechanical testing
  • Tribology tests in cooperation with internal partners
  • Coordination of cooperation with project partners, internal and external
  • Documentation and presentation of results

Your qualifications:

  • Successfully completed scientific university studies (diploma or master's degree) in the field of materials science, chemistry, physics, process engineering or a comparable field
  • Experience in hardmetal based materials
  • Experience with ceramic processing and with the development of powder processing
  • Experience with thermal processing, especially sintering
  • Good English or German language skills
  • Good communication and information behaviour, goal-oriented and structured way of working, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate, willingness to learn as well as conceptual, strategic and innovative thinking skills
