The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and analytical sciences.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Research and development tasks in the field of process development for organic and mineral cement and concrete components from renewable residues and raw materials
  • Conceptualisation, development and construction of a thermal processing plant for the production of admixtures and reactive binder components from renewable resources in Kenya
  • Preparation of technical data in databases and AI applications
  • Organisation of workshops with stakeholders from the formal and informal construction sector
  • Process optimisation of thermal treatment for various agricultural and aquacultural residues
  • Optimisation of building materials with regard to technical properties, circular local value chains and CO2  emissions

Your qualifications:

  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master's/Diploma) in civil engineering, materials science, geosciences, process engineering, chemistry or comparable field of study
  • Knowledge of mineral building materials such as cement and concrete
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes of mineral building materials and knowledge of the analytics of cement and concrete are advantageous
  • Experience in interdisciplinary and intercultural cooperation is advantageous
  • Excellent English skills; good written and spoken German is advantageous
  • Willingness to travel abroad
  • Good communication and information behaviour, initiative/commitment ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate, willingness to learn as well as conceptual, strategic and innovative thinking skills
