Become a part of the Cyber Cognitive Intelligence (CCI) team at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Automation (IPA). Our CCI department is at the forefront of exploring and showcasing the capabilities of machine learning and artificial intelligence within the manufacturing sector, emphasizing their practical application in industrial settings.

Under the theme of "Generative AI," we at CCI dedicate our efforts to pioneering techniques for generating content across diverse modalities, meticulously addressing both the unique needs of our clients and the critical aspect of data privacy in an industrial environment.

What you will do

- Research and develop (multimodal) generative AI approaches

- Implement and investigate generative AI for industrial use cases with industry-specific problems

- Research methods in privacy-preserving machine learning and techniques to mitigate membership inference attacks

- Develop innovative solutions using modern methods of machine learning and statistics

- Implement and test generative AI in cooperation with industrial partners

- Publish results at scientific conferences

What you bring to the table

- Strong master's/PHD degree in a STEM field or equivalent qualification

- Experience in statistics and machine learning, especially with generative models such as GAN, VAE, Diffusion, Transformers

- Experience in application domains such as text, code, or image generation (e.g., with Large Language Models like GPT or Llama)

- Good programming skills in relevant programming languages, as well as analytical and conceptual abilities

- Hands-on experience with toolkits like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain, etc.

- Ideally, experience in task-specific fine-tuning of pre-trained ML (Foundation) models

- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English ​​​​​​​

The weekly working hours are 39 hours. The position is initially limited to 3 years, with the possibility of extension. The position can be filled either full-time or part-time.
