The Department of Conservation Biology at the Georg-August University of Göttingen is looking to fill the position of

Research assistant (all genders welcome)

starting on 01.01.2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The contract duration is limited and ends on 31.12.2025. The regular working hours will be 29.85 per week (75%) and the salary corresponds to the E13 TV-L (75%) level.

The position and the starting date are subject to the approval of funding for the project.

The project

The aim of the F.R.A.N.Z. project is to promote biodiversity through agri-environmental measures on ten intensively managed farms that are representative for different regions of Germany (www.franz-projekt.de ). The results are monitored ecologically, economically and socio-economically. The project is led by the Environmental Foundation Michael Otto (UMO) and the German Farmers' Association (DBV). In addition to the participating farmers, other partners are the University of Göttingen, the Thünen Institute, the Michael Otto Institute at NABU (MOIN) and regional cultural landscape foundations.

Your tasks

You will coordinate the monitoring of plants and butterflies on the participating farms in the F.R.A.N.Z. project. The monitoring has been running since 2017, and surveys in the field are carried out by student assistants and species experts. The results of the monitoring will be scientifically analysed and published. Another focus of this position is internal and external communication in the project, e.g. to present the results at project meetings and to represent the research area at meetings with farmers, environmentalists, other scientists and the media.
