At the University of Göttingen - Public Law Foundation -, Ibero-America Institute for Economic Research, a position as

Research Assistant (all genders welcome)
WHK (45 hours per month)

is to be filled starting on 1 April 2024. The position is limited to 30 September 2026.

The salary is in accordance with the circular of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK).  

The Ibero-America Institute for Economic Research (Professor Inmaculada Martinez-Zarzoso) is looking to hire a qualified candidate:

Your tasks

  • Participation in research projects of the Ibero-America Institute
  • Presentation of research articles at international conferences and preparation for publication in leading academic journals
  • Support of teaching activities of the Ibero-America Institute
  • rganizational tasks
Your profile
  • Successfully completed MSc degree in Development Economics (or related fields)
  • Previous work experience in Latin America
  • Previous experience with seminar coordination
  • Strong interest in development economics, international economics, and/or the economics of Latin America
  • Adequate academic qualifications and strong analytical and writing skills
  • Knowledge of empirical methods and relevant statistical software (e.g., Stata, R)
  • Advanced knowledge of English (C1) and Spanish (C1); other languages will be an asset
  • Willingness to cooperate and ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment.

The Institute conducts applied economic research on economic development with a particular focus on Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. Our main research topics include:

  • Poverty, inequality, and gender discrimination
  • Trade and capital flows
  • Allocation, coordination, and effectiveness of development aid
  • Migration and conflict
  • Environmental economics and climate protection
