Potsdam University of Applied Sciences (FHP) is an innovative, forward-looking and practically oriented university. Since it was founded in 1991, the university has become an important pillar in the knowledge landscape of the region. At the present time students have a choice of 32 Bachelor's, Master's and diploma courses offering strong career prospects. With 100 professors we currently serve around 3800 students. The Faculty of Civil Engineering at Potsdam University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill the following post for the 2020/21 winter semester:

The Faculty of Civil Engineering is seeking a qualified person to be responsible for teaching and research in the subject of Transportation in the following areas:

- design, planning and maintenance of road and rail routes

- design and planning of transport infrastructure for roads

- planning and organisation of traffic systems

The Faculty of Civil Engineering integrates project-oriented content to a high degree within its programmes. You will utilise innovative methods of digital, online-based teaching and advocate the principle of research-based learning. Beyond the range of courses offered by the existing programmes, you will develop courses for the future, construction-oriented Master’s degree programme. Accordingly the curricula must be continuously developed. You will also be prepared to participate in interdisciplinary, cross-departmental courses and, where necessary, to be involved in foundation subject courses. Alongside German language classes, you should also be able to deliver courses in English-language modules in the future.

You will collaborate on the cross-departmental development of computer-assisted planning processes and on the acquisition and execution of research and development projects, as well as on transfer activities to strengthen the third party-funded activities of the faculty. You will be interested and prepared to work closely with other universities and research institutions. The same applies to technology transfer with partners in the region as well as on a national and international basis.

In addition to an appropriate degree in a civil engineering subject, you will have in-depth knowledge and practical career experience in transport infrastructure planning. You will have adequate teaching experience and enjoy participating in interdisciplinary, cross-departmental courses. It goes without saying that the post holder will also be involved in academic self-governance, and that pedagogic and social skills are a necessity.

The applicable conditions of employment are set out in § 41 paragraph 1, points 1 to 3 and 4b of the Brandenburg Universities Act (BbgHG). Provided that the post holder meets the relevant requirements, it may be possible to convert the employment relationship to civil servant status. In the event that this is a first appointment to a professorship, the contractual relationship shall initially

be limited to five years in accordance with § 43 para. 1 of the BbgHG and § 35 of the rules of appointment of Potsdam University of Applied Sciences. Shortly before the end of this period an assessment shall be carried out to determine if the employment relationship may be extended without the post being re-advertised.
