The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Professor in » Preventive Pediatrics « W3 Associate/Full Professor; to begin as soon as possible.

Scientific environment

The professorship is assigned to the TUM School of Medicine and Health in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences. The new TUM Campus in the Olympic Park is one of Europe’s most modern sports and health sciences facilities. The scientific environment in the Department and at the Technical University of Munich is characterized by strong interdisciplinary structures. Collaborations with the TUM School of Life Sciences, the Helmholtz Munich, and a Center for Health & Medicine in Society membership are anticipated. The primary focus of the Department of Health and Sport Sciences is to explore the relationship between physical activity and health in prevention research, with the ultimate goal of improving human health and well-being.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Preventive Pediatrics with a focus on preventing diseases and health problems in children and adolescents and the promotion of exercise and healthy lifestyles in childhood and adolescence based on sports science and sports medicine findings. Long-term measures from primary to tertiary prevention to promote health and well-being and reduce risk factors are to be developed, evaluated, and implemented in various settings. The professorship's responsibility includes the operation of a sports and preventive medicine research ambulance for children and adolescents. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates, preferably from the field of pediatrics and adolescent medicine, who have demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment relative to the relevant career level (please seewww.tum.de/en/faculty-recruiting-faq/ for further information).  

A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.In addition, a proven willingness to acquire and lead collaborative research projects (DFG, EU, etc.) and the ability to develop, advance, and lead strategic projects is expected.
