PhD position in “Fluorescent Dyes for Homogeneous Catalysis” at the Technical University of Darmstadt/Germany

We are aiming to fill a Ph. D. position in chemistry, starting January, 1st , 2022

Project Description

Research in the Plenio group is focused on designing and synthesizing new transition metal complexes and to test their application in homogeneous catalysis and as molecular probes. Fluorescent dyes are of essential importance in biochemistry, cell biology and medicine – but the use of such dyes in organometallic chemistry and homogeneous catalysis is rare. The Ph. D. project aims at establishing fluorescent dyes in homogeneous catalysis. The fluorescent dyes act as a probe providing information on the transition metal catalyzed reactions, but can also lead to new sensors for small molecules. The careful design of such probes and the application of in-situ fluorescence spectroscopy, reveals detailed mechanistic information. Activities: Organic synthesis (50%), Fluorescence Measurements (25%), Organometallic Chemistry (25%)
