The Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute) invites applications for the position of a Product Owner (m/f/d) - Phasemeter for LISA.

The applicant will be a leading member of a multi-disciplinary team at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute). The AEI is a world-leading research center specializing in gravity, gravitational waves and precision laser interferometry. The institute has locations in Potsdam and in Hannover. At our location in Hannover, the “Laser Interferometry in Space” group focuses on Gravitational Wave Detection and Earth Gravity Field Observation .
In particular, the “Laser Interferometry in Space” group makes major contributions to the LISA Pathfinder, the future LISA, and the US-German GRACE Follow-On (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) missions. Currently, the AEI group is involved in the design, development, industrialization and verification of precision Interferometric Phase Measurement Sub-Systems as core instruments for future satellite gravity and gravitational waves missions.


Your responsibilities

We are seeking a Product Owner with proven industrial experience in the aerospace sector, and proven knowledge of precision interferometric phase readout instruments to lead our science team and engineers at the forefront of the LISA mission. The applicant will coordinate the AEI-team and the industrial partners throughout all product life-cycle of the instruments (Engineering Models, Qualification Models, and Flight Models), including future support during commissioning phases and operations in flight.


Your profile

A successfully completed university degree (diploma, master) and proven experience as group leader is a prerequisite for the application. A PhD degree in physics, engineering, or in a comparable field is also mandatory for this position.
Good communication skills and a good command over written and spoken English is mandatory.
