Job Offer from November 09, 2022
The Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (MPIB) in Martinsried (near Munich, Germany) is one of the leading international research institutions in the fields of biochemistry, cell and structural biology and biomedical research. With about 30 scientific departments and research groups and about 750 employees, the MPIB is one of the largest institutes of the Max Planck Society. It offers an outstanding research environment with in-house facilities for next-generation sequencing, mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, FACS, and imaging.
The Mechanisms of Protein Biogenesis Laboratory, headed by Prof. Danny Nedialkova, is looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist (f/m/d) in molecular cell biology.
We seek to appoint an enthusiastic recent PhD graduate (f/m/d) to join interdisciplinary projects on the regulation of protein synthesis in health and disease. We are looking for candidates (f/m/d) who enjoy working in a dynamic environment with a high level of scientific freedom and responsibility, and are passionate about solving fundamental problems in biology.
The available projects will combine high-throughput sequencing based approaches and functional genomics in stem cell-based models to define how mRNA translation is regulated in human cells. Work in our laboratory is funded by the Max Planck Society, the European Research Council, the EMBO Young Investigator Program, and the DFG. Our laboratory is also affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences at the Technical University of Munich.
Applicants must have a PhD degree in a field of life sciences, a track record of independent and creative research, and a strong desire to pursue multidisciplinary cell biology projects with novel experimental tools. Expertise in cell culture, genome editing, and molecular biology techniques are essential. Previous experience with wet and dry lab high-throughput sequencing workflows is advantageous, but not required.
The successful applicant (m/f/d) will receive an appointment with a competitive salary in accordance with the TVöD (German public service tariff scale) and benefit from opportunities for additional training and attendance of international conferences. The initial appointment will be for two years with the possibility for an extension.
The Max-Planck society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals and seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.
Then please upload your complete application documents, containing a one-page cover letter describing your scientific accomplishments and your motivation for joining our lab, your CV and publication list, as well as the contact information of two references, in electronic form via the online application website . Deadline: 4th of December 2022.
