Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d)

from the field of Biotechnology

DWI offers you a wide range of possibilities to develop further both professionally and personally in an interdisciplinary setting.

In the interdisciplinary "InFuProts" project the research group from Prof. Schwaneberg develops anchor peptides and insecticidal proteins for applications in plant health in terms of a sustainable bioeconomy. In an international cooperation, the group's internal anchor peptide library is used to develop new biobased insecticides. Within the project, protein engineering (e.g. Directed Evolution) is used to tailor peptides and proteins for their application conditions. Our cooperation partner will validate the developed peptides and proteins in field trials.

Your Tasks:

  • Independent project work
  • Recombinant production and downstream processing of proteins and peptides
  • Engineering of functional peptides and proteins
  • Independent performance of adhesion (fluorescence microscopy) and functional studies
  • Close cooperation with international project partners

Your Profile:

  • You hold a Ph.D. in biotechnology or equivalent
  • Experience in molecular biology and recombinant protein production (including E. coli) is advantageous
  • Experience in protein engineering is desirable
  • Experience with insecticidal proteins or peptides is desirable
  • High level of accuracy and reliability, team spirit and hands-on mentality
  • Good communication skills in German and English
  • Good knowledge of MS Office applications

The 2-year position is available from January 2022 onwards. Employment, remuneration and benefits are based on the collective agreement for public service of the federal states (TV-L).
