The Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB) is an international research institute located on the weinberg-campus of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Halle, Germany (www.ipb-halle.de ).

The Department Molecular Signal Processing offers a

postdoctoral position (m/f/d)

(research group Nutrient Sensing) to investigate mechanisms of phosphate sensing at the root-soil interface in the context of biogeochemical phosphate-metal (Fe, Al) interactions and their modification by soil microbiota (see Naumann et al. 2021, bioRxiv).

Candidates should hold, or be close to obtaining, a PhD degree in microbiology, biology, biochemistry, or related topics. Applicants should have thorough research training and relevant experience in at least one of the following areas: soil science, biogeochemistry, environmental microbiology, metagenomics, plant nutrition and physiology, plant bio-chemistry, plant cell and molecular biology. The successful candidate has demonstrated an ability to design and complete research projects, which preferably have already been published. Applicants should be curious, creative and be in command of excellent analytical and communication skills, including fluency in English.

Starting September 2021, the appointment will be for up to three years. Salary and excellent benefits (social and health insurance) will be based on German laws for employees in the public sector (TV-L E 13, 100%).
