The Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics at the TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan and the TUM School of Management offers a position as Postdoctoral Researcher in Agricultural Production, Food and Resource Economics

Starting at the earliest December 1st, 2022.

The initial appointment will be 2 years with the possibility of extension. Salary is in accordance with the German State Regulated Public Salary Scale (TV-L E13 100%).

Tasks

The successful candidate is expected to actively engage in the Chair group’s tasks in various national and international projects in the areas of empirical production and natural resource economics. This includes participation in selected nationally and internationally funded projects of the Chair group, such as the EU Horizon projects RE-TOUCH-Nexus or INCITIS FOOD.

The successful candidate is also expected to be actively involved in teaching activities and will contribute to the curricula development of the Chair group. He/she will further lead and contribute to competitive project funding bids.

The successful applicant will develop his/her own research agenda in the fields of

• NATURAL RESOURCE / ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS (economics of water governance, Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus, economics of biodiversity, water resource management, soil economics, bioeconomy analysis, climate change economics, economics of food waste, etc.) and/or
• AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION ECONOMICS (agricultural production modelling and optimisation, productivity and efficiency analysis, food economics, economics of innovation, policy impact analysis etc.)

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in economics (preferably environmental, natural resource or agricultural economics), statistics, or related disciplines. A clear interest in natural resource economics, applied statistics and econometrics as well as exceptional analytical skills are required. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong and proven focus on publishing in international peer-reviewed journals and attracting competitive funding. An ability to work effectively in a young and dynamic research team that is internationally engaged through interdisciplinary research collaborations will be crucial. Example projects (e.g., EU, DFG, BMBF) can be found on our homepage (http://pur.wzw.tum.de/). Regions for current research collaborations comprise among others (South) Asia, Africa and South America. An interest in supplementary teaching is an essential advantage. Finally, excellent spoken and written English are required, while German language could also be an asset.
