The Department of Topological Quantum Chemistry at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids (MPI CPfS, Dresden), headed by Prof. Dr. Claudia Felser performs cutting-edge research on advanced topological materials, with a focus on both funda­men­tal and application-oriented perspectives.

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) to join our dynamic research team in the field of Paired Electrons and Topology.


Tasks
  • Discover and understanding of topological materials, particularly topological superconductors
  • Operation and maintenance of scanning tunneling microscopes
  • Characterization of physical properties by other experimental techniques in the institute
  • Design and simulation of new scanning probe microscopic experiments
  • Analysis and summarizing experimental results
  • Presentation of experimental discoveries in scientific journals and international conferences
  • Working in collaboration with PhD students and research technicians

Requirements
  • Completed university degree and PhD in the field of physics or chemistry;
  • Ability to work in the team and at the interdisciplinary level;
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English;
  • Comprehensive background in quantum condensed matter physics, with an emphasis on superconducting and/or topological materials;
  • Hands-on experience in scanning tunneling microscopy, cryogenic and ultrahigh vacuum equipment is mandatory;
  • Experience in design and development of radio-frequency circuits is preferred but not mandatory.
