At the University of Göttingen -Public Law Foundation-, Centre of Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Use - CBL, there is a position as

Postdoctoral Researcher (all genders welcome)

Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L/100%

to be filled. Starting date is 10/1/2022. The position is limited to 12/31/2025.

The salary is in accordance with the German public service salary scale (Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L).

You will work in land-use science using GIS, remote sensing and data science in an interdisciplinary project in forestry and agricultural sciences.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Classification of landscapes in Germany based on multiple environmental and socio-economic indicators
  • Analysis of landscape heterogeneity using remote sensing and data science approaches
  • Development of metrics for landscape heterogeneity
  • Supporting proposal writing for collaborative projects
  • Writing publications in peer-reviewed journals

To complete these tasks, an internationally experienced professional with an excellent scientific interdisciplinary profile and a strong background in GIS and remote sensing is required. The candidate must have completed their PhD examination and have an academic record and academic performance to date (i.e. determination, breadth of research activities, academic productivity). Applicants are expected to have strong analytical skills and experience in data management and R or similar software. Drivers license required. Experience working in multinational and interdisciplinary research environments is advantageous. The postdoctoral researcher must be fluent in English; knowledge of German is an asset.
