to be filled. Starting date is as soon as possible. The position is limited to two years.

The position, in the field of computational helio/astro-seismology, is in the group of Prof. Laurent Gizon and is funded by the ANR/DFG project BUTTERFLY (a recent cooperation between INRIA and the University of Göttingen). The overall purpose of this research is to develop the computational tools required to learn about the surface distribution of magnetic activity on the surfaces of distant Sun-like stars using asteroseismology. We will demonstrate the diagnostic potential of Sun-as-a-star observations of solar oscillations to probe the latitudinal distribution of magnetic activity on the surface.

Candidates are expected to have a Master's degree or equivalent and hold a PhD degree in physics, mathematics, computer science or related topics. Experience with data analysis is desirable. Excellent communication skills in English are required.
The position is based in Göttingen (Germany).
