The position is recruited in the research group of Prof. Dr. Meike Wollni. The research group conducts research on sustainable food systems and agricultural resource management of rural households in the Global South. Important research topics include the role of drivers, institutions and incentives for sustainable land use choices and the impacts on household welfare. Your tasks
The postdoctoral researcher is expected to plan and conduct research related to sustainable food systems, food system resilience, adoption of sustainable agricultural technologies, trade-offs between biodiversity and economic functions, impacts on poverty, food security and/or nutrition. The tasks include:

  • Development and design of innovative research ideas
  • Empirical analysis of quantitative data using statistical and econometric methods
  • Active interaction with other researchers across disciplinary boundaries
  • Presentation and publication of research results
  • Contribute to teaching and guidance of Master students and doctoral researchers
Your profile
  • Completed PhD in Agricultural Economics, Development Economics or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with quantitative research methods
  • Proven interest in topics related to rural development economics, conservation and development, poverty-environment nexus, food security, sustainable food systems
  • Previous experience with research and/or data collection in the tropics is a plus
  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with other researchers; experience of working in intercultural and interdisciplinary teams is a plus
  • Excellent command of the English language

The position is based in Göttingen (Germany) but requires traveling and short research stays abroad.
