Job Offer from January 14, 2022
The Max Planck Institute for Biological Intelligence emerged from the MPI for Ornithology and the MPI for Neurobiology in January 2022. Until its official foundation, the institute will be legally represented by its predecessor institutes. The institute is located in the southwest of Munich and is part of the Life Science Campus Martinsried, with a second location in Seewiesen near Starnberg.
Our institute is dedicated to the investigation of "biological intelligence". We aim to understand how animal organisms developed skills in the course of evolution to adapt to a constantly changing environment and to always find new solutions to problems.
Postdoctoral fellow (m/f/d) for directed evolution of proteins
Our group has generated new methods for directed protein evolution in mammalian cells that are based on CRISPR/Cas genome editing enzyme. While further improvements in the method need to be developed, this approach opens up numerous exciting possibilities to target proteins and signaling cascades for which the mammalian cell provides the relevant physiological context.
The position is best suited for an independent person who brings in a certain level of expertise acquired during PhD work. This should be documented by at least one first author research publication in an international peer-reviewed journal. The award of your PhD should be no longer than 4 years ago. You should be a good team player, diligent worker, share our passion for science and have an eye for details. Your salary will be that of a postdoc (German public salary scale TvÖD13/14) and commensurate with your experience.
The position is initially limited to a period of 2 years. An extension is possible depending on the course of the project.
The Max Planck Society strives for gender equity and diversity. We welcome applications of any background. The Max Planck Society is committed to employing more severely disabled people. Applications from severely disabled persons are explicitly encouraged.
If interested please direct your inquiries and apply with a succinct letter of motivation, a CV and the names of two references to Oliver Griesbeck [email protected] The search will continue until the position is filled.
