Offer Description

At the University of Greifswald’s Institute of Botany and Landscape Ecology, working group Landscape Ecology and Ecosystem Dynamics in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, there is a job vacancy, subject to budgetary regulations, that is expected to be available for next possible appointment, for a full-time

Postdoctoral Fellow.

The contract is limited to three years with the prospect of permanent employment. The position is suitable for part-time employment. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft.

The holder of the position shall be expected to develop the research focus "Forest Ecology". We mainly work in temperate forests and in boreal forest areas. The working group runs a large forest-monitoring network, for which the new colleague will carry the co-responsibility. Experience with dendrometers / sap flow sensors and networks and other forest monitoring methods is therefore highly desirable, additional thematic ideas are welcome. Our working group also runs a landscape ecology laboratory and the dendro-ecological laboratory "DendroGreif", both with state-of-the-art equipment. The holder of the position will be responsible for the dendro-ecological laboratory. Experience in dendro-ecology is therefore a prerequisite for employment.

Tasks:

  • Scientific services in research and teaching
  • Active involvement in the acquisition of third-party funded projects
  • Teaching and organisation of classes for national and international bachelor’s and master’s degree courses in landscape ecology (teaching languages are German and English)
  • Head of the dendroecological laboratory "DendroGreif"

During the period of fixed-term employment, the position on offer is aimed at postdocs wishing to complete a habilitation or equivalent qualification. Tasks will therefore be transferred that are conducive to the preparation of a habilitation or equivalent.

Requirements:

  • Diplom or master's degree or equivalent in biology, landscape ecology, forestry, geography or similar areas
  • Doctorate with above-average grades
  • International scientific track record in forest ecology
  • International peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience in monitoring using dendrometers and/or sap flow measurements

Desirable:

  • Acquisition of external research funding and research experience abroad are an advantage
  • Experience in teaching (German and/or English) is highly desirable
  • Very good German and English language skills are required

The position is open to all persons, irrespective of gender.

Due to the underrepresentation of women in equivalent positions at the university, applications from women are particularly welcome and will be treated with priority if they have the same qualifications and as long as there are no clear reasons which make a fellow applicant more suitable.

Severely disabled applicants with the same qualifications will be considered with preference.

According to § 68(3) PersVG M-V, the Staff Council will only be involved in staff matters of the academic or artistic staff on request.

Please only submit copies of your application documents as they cannot be returned. Unfortunately, application costs (e.g. travel expenses for interviews) will not be reimbursed by the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Please note that by submitting your application, you provide your consent pursuant to data protection law for our processing of your application data. Further information about the legal bases and the use of your data can be found here .
