Main tasks

This position provides an excellent opportunity to grow scientifically and work with a dynamic group of investigators studying important and exciting aspects of immunothrombosis. 

Area of responsibilities / description of the work:

The research focus of Dr. Thomas Renné’s laboratory at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) is on the crosstalk of coagulation and vascular inflammation. The Postdoctoral Fellow position is available for candidates to contribute to characterize the roles of polyphosphate, the contact activation pathway and immune responses in thromboinflammatory disease states with high clinical relevance. Approaches will include various ex vivo analysis of blood cell functions, cell biological studies of blood cell response, and in vivo models of thrombosis and inflammation. A background in genetics, benign hematology/blood physiology, and experience with working with animal models will be viewed favorably. 

The position is initially open for a 2 year fixed term contract with the possibility for prolongation or a permanent position.

Your profile

Applicants must have a strong background in experimental vascular research including thrombosis & hemostasis, molecular and cellular biology, innate immunity or imaging. The applicants will be evaluated based on education and previous experience, relevance for the project, publications and track records, motivation, scientific merits and cooperative ability.
