Postdoc - X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy (XPCS) of energy materials and detector development

Your Job:

  • Preparation and characterization of materials for (electro)chemical energy storage
  • Investigation of the dynamics in these materials using X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy (XPCS)
  • Design of cells and reactors for operando investigations
  • Coordination and execution of synchrotron beam times
  • Commissioning of a new X-ray detector
  • Collaboration with synchrotron users at beamline P10 of PETRA III at DESY
  • Collaboration with the computer science department of Paderborn University in the field of FPGA detector acceleration
  • Publication and presentation of results in high-ranking and recognized journals as well as at national and international conferences
  • Supervision of PhD students and other students
  • Support in the preparation of applications for third-party funding

Your Profile:

  • Master`s degree in physics, chemistry, material science, chemical engineering or related disciplines
  • Fundamental knowledge in structural characterization of matter, ideally synchrotron methods (e.g. X-ray diffraction, X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray microscopy)
  • Experience in the field of energy materials
  • Experience with programming languages (ideally Python)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Very independent and self-motivated way of working but also excellent teamwork skills
  • Readiness for regular business trips
  • High motivation to take on responsibility and develop own research ideas
