The Department of Internal Medicine V of Heidelberg University Hospital is a leading center for research in hematology and oncology. The location of Heidelberg offers state-of-the-art infrastructure in a highly collaborative environment (NCT, DKFZ and EMBL Heidelberg).

We are seeking a creative and highly motivated postdoctoral fellow (PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent) with a strong interest in single cell multiomics and mass spectrometry in cancer research. The candidate will work within a multidisciplinary and collaborative team of basic and translational scientists, computational biologists and clinicians at the interface of basic and clinical research in the framework of a BMBF financed consortium with DKFZ and EMBL. The project focuses on systematic investigation of the molecular mechanisms of therapy resistance in Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) using molecular biology and systems medicine approaches with a broad scale of methods (single-cell sequencing, proteomics, proteogenomics, cellular in vitro assays, omics-based procedures and bioinformatics). The experimental work is projected for 2 years with option to be continued.

Your Tasks

  • Responsible planning and performing of experiments in the framework of the scientific project plan (multiomics single-cell approaches, proteogenomics, in vitro assays)
  • Support of bioinformatics analysis and clinically focused interpretation of multiomics data sets
  • Responsible collaboration and communication with project partners
  • Instruction of technical assistants
  • Preparation and presentation of project reports and publications

Your Profil

  • PhD degree in life sciences
  • Broad expertise in the field of molecular biology
  • Enthusiasm for science
  • Experience and skills in bioinformatics tools and programming language R or Python are preferred
  • Team spirit, creativity, flexibility, reliability, strong commitment, ability to think and work independently in a collaborative environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of collaborative work in multidisciplinary research environments
  • Mastery of written and spoken German and English
