Our research, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) through Collaborative Research Center1190 (Compartmental Gates and Contact Sites in Cells), investigates the mechanisms of membrane protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum and how this is dynamically regulated in response to cellular stress. A key aspect of our work is elucidating the molecular basis and functional implication of the re-localization of targeting machinery components to sphase transitioned organelle during cellular stress.
Our lab utilizes a broad range of cutting-edge methodologies to achieve our research aims including, synthetic genetic array and high-throughput microscopy-based screening, affinity purification coupled to mass spectrometry and RNA-seq as well as various in vitro biochemical and biophysical techniques.
We are a dynamic, enthusiastic and international team embedded in the research environment of the outstanding Göttingen Campus. Recent examples of our work on this topic can be found at:

  • to work on a well-established project investigating protein targeting and cellular stress responses

Your profile:

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related area with experience in membrane protein biology, microscopy and/or phase transition
