as soon as possible in the clinic for pediatric oncology, hematology, immunology and pulmonology in the research area of ​​Prof. Dr. Irmela Jeremias wanted

The Hopp Children Cancer Center Heidelberg (KiTZ) belongs to the Heidelberg University Hospital and tackles challenges in pediatric oncology. Our unit studies acute leukemias and aims for new therapies which increase childrens´ chances to survive their disease. As patient-close approach, we use a xenograft mouse model which allows studying primary tumor cells in an in vivo environment. We conduct preclinical treatment trials with new therapeutic drugs as well as in vivo molecular work on questions of basic leukemia biology. We are currently in the process of setting up a new group in Heidelberg. For support, we are looking for a Postdoc in biology or a similar subject with strong experience in mouse work.

Your Tasks

  • Work with a Xenograft mouse model
  • Design, perform and coordinate in vivo and in vitro experiments at major independence
  • Guide PhD students and technicians
  • Evaluate scientific literature, write grant applications and publications

Your Profile

  • Major experiences working independently in a scientific environment
  • A PhD in biology, molecular biomedicine, biotechnology, or a related subject
  • Strong background in molecular biology including proficiency with lentiviral vectors and CRISPR/Cas9 technology
  • Experiences in flow cytometry and mouse models
  • Enthusiasm for translational cancer research
  • Independent, collaborative and responsible working attitude
  • Excellent communication (written and spoken) skills in English
