The Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research (LIR) gGmbH is an independent research institute aiming for a better understanding of resilience, i.e., an individual’s ability to successfully adapt to stress or adversity without developing stress-related psychiatric conditions. It investigates the mechanisms that mediate resilience, develops resilience-promoting interventions and implements effective interventions in healthcare in companies, schools or universities.
Within the third-party funded project "FAMILY" (EU Horizon program), we are looking for a
Post-doctoral researcher (m/f/d)
(100 % position, currently 38,5 hours/week)
limited in time until 30/09/2027. The temporary employment is based on the regulations of the Law on Temporary Employment Contracts in Science (WissZeitVG). Payment is based on EG 13 TV-UM (collective agreement of the University Medical Center Mainz).
The EU project FAMILY tries to understand and predict the intergenerational transmission of mental illness and to unravel mechanisms of resilience in children being raised by parents suffering from mental illness. It involves close cooperation with Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam (coordinator), Harvard Global, University College London, University of Zurich, and other international partners. A specially close cooperation is foreseen with the research groups of Prof. Christian Beckmann and Prof. Emma Sprooten at the Donders Institute, Radboud University Medical Center Nijmegen. The project researchers of these groups will form an interactive working group. Applicants have the possibility to apply at one of these sites only; provided their consent, application documents will be shared and the selection process will be commonly organized by the sites.
Your tasks include:
- Statistical analysis of mental health data sets (including multi-modal and longitudinal data sets from cohorts)
- Adaptation of existing analysis methods
- Analysis planning and results interpretation on the basis of subject-matter knowledge on mental health / disease mechanisms (biological, psychological, social)
- Organization of scientific and methodological exchange within the FAMILY project consortium
- Cooperation with the groups of C. Beckmann and E. Sprooten, Nijmegen
- Scientific publication and dissemination
Your profile:
- completed scientific university studies in the field of data science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, psychology, biology, behavioral science, neuroscience, medicine, or related disciplines (diploma/master's degree) and a PhD ideally in the field of mental health-related research
- sound methodological knowledge and experience in statistical analysis
- previous experience in the preparation of scientific publications
- very good written and spoken English skills
- ability to work independently and on your own responsibility
- high level of communication skills, distinctive team behavior, flexibility and ability to work under pressure, precise and forward-looking way of working, systematic working style, organizational skills, own initiative
