Post-doctoral researcher (m/f/d)

Full-time, fixed term for three years (extension possible), starting October 2023 or later in the Everyday Media Lab .

The research focus of the Everyday Media lab is on knowledge-related use of social and mobile media and it’s consequences, either in professional settings or in everyday life. Another research area is human-machine communication and algorithm acceptance. Current research of the lab deals, for example, with science communication on social media, the use of voice assistants for information search, or benefits of professional social media use. These topics are studied from a social psychological, media psychological and communication science perspective.

Your task will be to develop an independent research profile (preferably on the topic of knowledge-related media use in informal settings), to publish at a high level and to attract competitive third-party funding. In addition, you will be involved in on-going research projects and the supervision of (doctoral) students and support the administrative management of the lab.

Postdoctoral researchers already having a wide and deep range of scientific knowledge and experiences may optionally be given the opportunity of the fixed in time function of a deputy head of the lab additionally, which will be remunerated accordingly (E14 TV-L).

Your profile:

  • Research focus on effects of (knowledge-related) social media use, in particular in informal settings
  • Experience in planning, running, and analyzing empirical studies
  • Publications in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in writing grant proposals
  • Openness towards Open Science
  • Interest/expertise in computational methods (automated content analysis, big data) is an asset
  • Interest in transfer and application of the results of your own research
  • Doctorate in psychology (media- , social- or organizational psychology) or communication science; ideally a 2-3 years of work experience after PhD
  • Very good command of English; knowledge of German is an asset
